How the calculation works
Estimated total = application costs + document costs + travel + initial housing + monthly living costs multiplied by the months you select + your additional reserve. The savings gap is that total minus your available savings, with a minimum of zero. Divide the gap by the months available to save to get the monthly target, rounded up to the nearest hundredth.
Build your estimates from real sources
Use the relevant authority for application charges and document instructions, and recent quotes for travel and accommodation. Record the date and currency of each estimate. Convert figures into one currency before entering them here. Keep a rental deposit separate from rent only when they are separate costs, so you do not count the same expense twice.
Does this calculate visa proof of funds?
No. This is a personal planning calculation, not a test of visa eligibility or official financial evidence. Check the current instructions for your route separately. Do not count funds you must keep available as both a required balance and money already spent on your move.
