The Virtual Working Programme lets you live in the UAE for a year (renewable) while genuinely working remotely for an employer or clients based outside the country — your income must never actually come from a UAE source. Two real income tracks exist: employees need at least USD 3,500/month, business owners need USD 5,000/month plus proof of owning their company for at least a year. Since 2026, income proof has tightened from 3 to 6 months of bank statements, and you generally need at least 6 months of continuous employment with your current overseas employer before applying — a real, recently-changed bar, not a static one.
