The full guide
A residence permit for non-EU/EEA nationals admitted to full-time higher education in Sweden for programs longer than 3 months. Final admission (and, for fee-paying students, proof the first tuition installment is paid) is required before you can even apply — Migrationsverket won't accept an application from someone not yet 'finally admitted.' A June 2026 reform tightened work-hour limits during study but extended post-graduation job-search time.
Cost: SEK 1,500 for adults, SEK 750 for children under 18 — non-refundable even if the application is rejected.
