D-10 lets you stay in South Korea to search for work, prepare a business, or complete a related internship, without a job offer first. There are two genuinely different paths: (1) international students who completed a degree in Korea and convert from a D-2 student visa — commonly exempt from both the points test and the financial-proof requirement if they apply within 1 year of graduating, and (2) general applicants, including first-time applicants applying fresh from outside Korea with no prior Korean study, who must clear a points-based test outright with no exemption. Following an October 2025 reform, the maximum stay was extended from 2 to 3 years, and higher-scoring applicants now renew in 1-year increments (up from 6 months).
