The Job Seeker Visa is a national Type D visa that lets you travel to Portugal to look for work without a job offer first — no sponsor, no points test. It's aimed at applicants qualified for skilled, technically demanding roles: you'll need proof of higher education or a relevant professional qualification, savings of roughly €3,280, a clean criminal record, travel/medical insurance, and a return ticket. You get an initial 120 days in Portugal, with one 60-day extension available if you can show you're actively job-hunting. Once you land a matching offer, you convert to a work/residence permit.
Cost: Commonly reported as roughly €90 for the visa application itself, plus around €170 for the residence permit once you're approved — additional visa-centre service fees (roughly €20–€80) may also apply depending on where you apply. Confirm the exact current fees with your consulate.
