AEWV is the standard, most common work visa most people actually get on day one — distinct from the points-based Skilled Migrant Category residence route. A real, substantive change: the fixed median-wage test was removed in March 2025. Pay is now checked against the genuine 'market rate' for your specific role and region (what a New Zealander would be paid for the same job there), with the adult minimum wage as an absolute floor — there's no longer one national number to simply clear.
