The Researcher category of France's Talent Passport (Passeport Talent) is built around the convention d'accueil — a formal hosting agreement with a French public or private research or higher-education institution — rather than a fixed salary test. The institution must itself be approved to host researchers, and the agreement needs to state the research project, its duration, and your funding. This is a multi-year residence permit (up to 4 years), and unlike some other Talent Passport categories, Researcher doesn't require a separate DREETS work-authorisation step for the employer.
Cost: Consular fee around €99; OFII fee around €200 when the permit is issued; €25 stamp duty on the residence permit
