A national long-stay (type D) visa for non-EU/EEA nationals accepted for full-time higher education (or an approved preparatory year) at a recognized Belgian institution. It's consulate-issued before travel, not points-tested — the core test is genuine enrollment plus verifiable proof of funds through an accepted channel. Critically, a personal bank statement alone is NOT accepted as proof of funds — it has to go through one of a small set of specific channels.
Cost: €180 currently, rising to €250 for appointments from 1 July 2026.
